Effect of shrouding oxygen temperature on characteristics of supersonic oxygen jet

Abstract:The process of supersonic oxygen jet injection is an important technology in steelmaking. Accompanied by high temperature flow around the supersonic jet is a good way to improve the velocity and enhance the smelting efficiency. The effect of shrouding oxygen temperature on characteristics of supersonic coherent jet has been studied by the numerical simulation. The results show that shrouding oxygen with high temperature can inhibit the velocity decay,that is,the higher the shrouding oxygen temperature,the lower the velocity decay. And the length of the jet core area has been prolonged obviously. The static temperature of supersonic coherent jet at the jet centerline increases at first and then decreases at different shrouding oxygen temperature. The shrouding oxygen temperature increasing also inhibits the rapidly increase of the static temperature. The high temperature-low density region,which is formed by the shrouding oxygen around the main jet,separates the supersonic jet from the surrounding environment which will delay the blending of the main jet and the surrounding environment,and play a role in sleeving the main jet.
