Technical research and practice of metallurgical dust recycling in converter

Abstract:Thermodynamics and dynamics condition of direct recycling for the metallurgical ferruginous dust in smelting process has been studied in the laboratory. It was concluded that temperature of the C-FeO reduction reaction in working conditions must be controlled above 950℃, and the metallization rate in metallurgical ferruginous dust increased with the increase of heating temperature and the extension of heating time, and it was pointed out that the optimum position adding metallurgical ferruginous dust pellet was converter. At the same time, the industrial proving trials adding metallurgical ferruginous dust pellet into converter have been carried on It was concluded that metallurgical ferruginous dust pellet has no remarkable effect on TFe content in slag at blowing end, and the average metallization rate could reach to about 50%. The economic value of adding metallurgical ferruginous dust pellet was depended on three major factors including the price margin between hot metal and scrap, the quantity of adding metallurgical ferruginous dust pellet and the sulfur content in metallurgical ferruginous dust pellet.
