Abstract:In order to improve the surface quality of thick strip in hot rolling and reduce the influence of the oxide scale on the product quality, the forming process of oxide scale, the stress in bending process and the composition of ideal oxide scale were analyzed. It was suggested that the ideal oxide scale should be as thin as possible and the ratio of Fe3O4 should be as high as possible. Through the high temperature and rapid rolling, the thin oxide scale can be obtained. When the coiling temperature was quickly reduced to 300- 570 ℃, the eutectoid reaction of FexO occurred on the surface of the strip, which produced enough Fe3O4. Under the guidance of the designed experiment, the thickness of oxide scale the Fe3O4 mass fraction in oxide scale measured in the experiment were less than 10 μm and greater than 70%, respectively, which indicated that the thick strip oxide scale in hot rolling can be effectively controlled and verified the correctness of the process.
