Pickling plate SPHC from the pickling plant of Shougang Company recently arose landscape painting defects(Mshape defect)in June 2018, which were distributed in different hot rolling unit. The raw materials were provided by two hot rolling lines, and the chromatic aberration in the pickling plate surface was obvious, which affected using. In order to research the causes and influencing factors of the defects, the microstructure of the defects, as well as the chemical component of iron oxide scale was simultaneously tested to analyze the mechanism of the formation of landscape painting defect. Besides, the effect of the chemical component, heating schedule, furnace atmosphere and other factors were also systematically studied according to production trails. Results showed that the higher the charging temperature was and the longer the time slabs stayed in the furnace, the heavier the landscape painting was. However, the slight adjustment of roughing rolling speed had no obvious effect on the landscape painting defects. Therefore, a series of measures were token such as controlling the inside oxidizing atmosphere of the furnace, improving the heating schedule and optimizing the rolling schedule, the landscape painting defect on the surface of lowcarbon pickling plate was finally controlled.
