Abstract:The addition of Si element in the hot rolled slab is beneficial to the improvement of the strength of the hot- rolled products, the reduction of manufacturing costs and the improvement of the plasticity and toughness of the products. But, in the production process of high strength hot rolled steel strip, there will be a typical red rust surface defect with the increase of Si element. The results show that the 2FeO·SiO2 compound produced by Si element and Fe element is the main reason for the defect of red rust scale. The conventional hot strip rolling descaling system (system pressure at about 22 MPa) is difficult to completely remove the red rust and using the ultra high pressure descaling system (system pressure at about 40 MPa) is the most effective way to removing this oxide scale. The applications of the ultra high pressure descaling system for removing the oxide scale on the hot rolled strips′ surface in the new hot strip rolling line and the transformation hot strip rolling line are mainly introduced.
