Abstract:The expanded temperature difference on the head and tail of intermediate billet at finish rolling area and the increased scale defect for finished strips were analyzed after the installation of heat preservation cover. The results showed that the main reason for those problems was the temperature of the intermediate billet increased after the installation of heat preservation cover, and the finishing mill needed to reduce the rolling speed to hit the final rolling temperature, which leaded to the extension of finishing rolling time. Temperature variations were analyzed by means of FEM simulation. On the basis of the simulation result, the heating process was optimized,and the problem was solved. Apart from energy saving and cost reducing,the finish rolling stability was improved.
