In order to solve the problem of drawing fracture caused by large particle inclusions in wire cord steel, the structure of the heterotype tundish was improved and optimized through the results of the water model research, and industrial tests were carried out on the optimized special shaped tundish structure. The results showed that with the optimal structure of the retaining wall, the effect of the inclusions removal was obviously improved. The proportion of inclusions in the billet with the size less than 10 μm was 87.95% and the average size was 6.7 μm. Large particles of high MgO and SiO2 inclusions were effectively removed, the proportion of B fine magnitude inclusions with less than 0.5 class reached 97.56% in the rolled products.
