Abstract:For the purpose of further promoting the sustainable development of China's iron and steel industry with low-carbon emission, it is imperative to draft the high-level national carbon emission standards based on the current situation of China's iron and steel industry because the high-level carbon emission standards can play a leading role on guiding the direction and tendency of related research and development projects. The implemented carbon emission standards in industrialized countries and regions are briefly summarized. Furthermore, the importance and necessary of drafting high-level carbon emission standards are discussed according to current low-carbon standard system in China's iron and steel industry. Some concerns and suggestions on drafting carbon emission standards for China's iron and steel industry in the near future are provided by combined with a recently proposed "C+4E" target framework, in which includes increasing Carbon productivity and improving Energy saving and Economic efficiency as measures, and building Environment friendship and Eco-industrial chain as final goal.
