Abstract:The secondary aluminum dross containing the high content of aluminum and alumina is a renewable resource, but it also contains harmful impurities such as fluoride and chlorides, which can easily cause the environmental pollution due to the improper handling. The leaching process of the secondary aluminum dross containing fluorine and chlorine compound produced in the production process of an aluminum plant was studied, and the effects of different leaching time, liquid- solid ratio, leaching liquid pH and leaching temperature on the leaching rate of fluorine and chlorine were investigated. The obtained best process parameters were that and the leaching time was 8 h, the liquid- solid mass ratio was 6, the leaching liquid pH was 4, the leaching temperature was 60 ℃. The maximum leaching rates of F and Cl elements were 87.67% and 99.02%, respectively. After the separation, the chlorine salts and villiaumite were recycled from the filtrate by evaporation, and the condensate can be reused in the leaching process. When there were no harmful elements precipitated from the residue, it can be used as the raw materials to produce permeable bricks and other building materials. Thus, the harmless treatment and resource utilization of the secondary aluminum dross were achieved.
