The new generation TMCP technology for hot rolled strip is based on ultra fast cooling. The wide scope of cooling rate(from air cooling to ultra fast cooling) and accurate control of temperature can be obtained by this tech- nology. Based on this, the cooling path after hot rolling can be controlled flexibly. By means of the optimum matc- hing of fine grain strengthening, precipitation strengthening, solution strengthening, dislocation strengthening and phase transformation strengthening, the hot rolled strip possesses excellent comprehensive properties. Moreover, the new generation TMCP technology has the characteristics of low cost, high efficiency, high uniformity, high pre- cision controlling and so on, therefore it has become the important development field of rolling process. With the im- provement of request coming from the steel performance and the exhaustion of energy sources, the new generation TMCP technology based on ultra fast cooling for hot rolled strip has the broad prospect of development.
