Abstract:There was some stripe on the surface of chill roll during the production of the dual phase high-strength steel in a sour rolling mill. In order to confirm the source and constitution of the stripe,it tracked the production process of the dual phase steel two times. The morphology and component of the stripe region and non-stripe region before and after pickling were observed by the electron microscope. It found that the morphology and component of the stripe on the steel surface after pickling was similar to that of the hot rolled stripe. The retrospective analysis showed that the stripe was produced during the machine flame clearing the surface of the slab in the steel-making workshop. When there were some omissions for flame clearing, the residual oxidation layers were crushed and wrapped in the strip steel during the hot rolling process and then formed the stripe. The thick oxide layer of the stripe cannot be eliminated thoroughly during the acid pickling, which can cause the downgrade of the chill roll,be harmful to the roll, and also have serious impacts on the batch production of the dual phase steel in the acid rolling.
