Influence of reduction distribution on slab deformation during liquid core reduction process

Abstract:In order to improve the slab center segregation and porosity,the parameters of liquid core reduction process were optimized. Based on the finite element theory,the software Marc was used to compute the three-dimensional thermal-mechanical coupling model of thin slab during the liquid core reduction process,and the temperature of the slab cross section in the mold exit was considered as the initial conditions. The effects of different reduction distribution on nodes’stresses and strains in slab were analyzed. The result showed that the slab surface stress would be decreased by adopting evenly reduction distribution with constent overall reduction and the bigger reduction can be more helpful for improving the central quality.
