Abstract:In order to find the cause of ring cracks on the inner surface of 4130X cylinder pipe produced in productive process, through the crack defect analysis, the comparative analysis of the slab macro-structure, the contrast experiment on heating technology and the thermal simulation experiment, the crack formation mechanism had been found. The thermal stress and organizational stress gather in the ring transition interface of the columnar crystal zone and centre equiaxial crystal zone. And when the stress is superposed to a certain value, whose corresponding temperature is exactly in the brittle temperature range,the annular cracks will produce in the round bloom. Then, during the piercing process, the inner zone of annular crack is thinning out due to the extension in the axial direction and the expansion from inside to outside in the radial direction, which eventually cause the ring cracks on the surface of the pipe. While, the cracks can be avoided by decreasing the stress and averting the stress concentration.
