Abstract:ZrO2 ceramic filter in the steelmaking plant in Nanjing Iron and Steel United Co.,Ltd. has been studied. The samples were sampled from the tundish which installed ceramic filter. The total oxygen content and the type,shape and size composition of the non-metallic inclusions in steel were analyzed by a variety of analysis means. Then the inclusion removing capability of tundish ceramic filter was evaluated. The experimental results indicated that the effect of ceramic filter on the filteration of the inclusion was striking. The inclusion removal rate was 41.6%,when the diameter of inclusions was more than 30 μm. The tundish had powerful capability of inclusion removal,which guaranteed the production of the high-quality steel. But the calcium treatment process should be controlled reasonably to decrease the secondary oxidation and improve the cleanliness of molten steel.
