Abstract:There is an outline of unfolding and conclusion of the project “high-speed rails quality evaluation” set up. An introduction of high-speed rail technologies is given and the contents, schemes, and conclusions of the project are presented. The evaluation items include the quality of the materials of high-speed rails and switch rails, the quality of rail welding joints, the comparison between China and some developed countries on physical and chemical properties and standards of high-speed rails, the tracking of some selected high-speed rails and welding joints in service, micro-structure examination and damage mechanism analysis of high-speed rails, assessment of sustained stability of high-speed rails production. The results show that the quality of Chinese made high-speed rails, welding joints and switch rails meets the relevant standards requirements. Chinese standards and Chinese made rails, which are at the same level with that of the leading countries in high-speed railways, sufficiently satisfy the needs of large-scale constructions of China’s high-speed railway system. The prime properties, stable quality, and reliable technologies of domestically made rails can guarantee the safe operation of high-speed railways.
