Abstract:Torsion fatigue life of gear shaft steel SCM440H after quenching and high-temperature tempering has been tested,and the fatigue fracture surface was observed and analyzed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that the torsion fatigue strength of the gear shaft steel SCM440H with tempered Sorbite is about 253 MPa in 106 cycles. Observation shows that the torsion fatigue crack shows ductile fracture characteristics under different shear stresses and no inclusion precipitation was found at fatigue crack initiation sites.
