Analyzing the iron and steel steam system structure, status and main problems, energy savings potential of steam system is founded. The irrationality in steam supply and usage was discussed, which focuses on the use of energy level matching the rational use of steam of different quality problems. Enhancing utilization of waste heat re- covery steam and steam alternative technologies are proposed, for example, the development of CCHP and other measures to improve steam system energy savings. The results show that:①the use of steam should be consistent with level matching, cascade utilization principle, to improve its efficiency;②in-depth analysis of the steam system characteristics, the use of appropriate energy-saving technologies, the establishment of steam management system, centralized management, will help improving the use value of steam and reducing emission.
