16MnV/9Cr18MoV/16MnV sandwich composite plate was produced by process of cutting, forging and hot rolling after centrifugal casting. The microstructure of hot rolling plate showed that one side of 16MnV/9Cr18MoV had clear interface and the other side of 9Cr18MoV/16MnV had blurry transition zone. The composition analysis by means of SEM and EDX indicated that a lot of element Cr has existed in 16Mn area through blurry transition zone. This showed that when the third layer of 16MnV was casted, two materials were mixed intensively because the melting point of 16MnV is higher than that of 9Cr18MoV, thus asymmetrical structure was formed. This asymmetrical structure would have an effect on the mechanical properties and knife application.
