Abstract:According to the low carbon design theory, industrial trials of offshore platform plate E40-Z35 were conducted on 4300mm heavy plate mill. It was suggested that E40-Z35 had weak toughness and CTOD because of coarse ferrite grain in the center. Grain growth could be suppressed through increasing cooling capacity and reducing finish cooling temperature. And then difference in thickness direction could be decreased. The results shows that low carbon offshore platform plate exhibits high impact toughness, good weldability and excellent anti-lamellar tearing performance.
