Experimental Study on Using Limestone Instead of Lime for Slagging in 60t Converter

The experimental results of using limestone instead of lime for slagging in 60t LD of Shijiazhuang Iron and Steel Company were discussed. The relation between endpoint temperature and the addition various materials was found out by regression analysis on the experimental data. The results indicate that the addition of limestone is able to supply part of oxygen for the oxidation reactions in the bath. The increase of the proportion of lime replaced by limestone is beneficial to improve Lp of final slag. Endpoint temperature, TFe content and the basicity of final slag are key controlling factors.
