Analysis of Cooling Plate to Recovering Cooling Capacity of Copper Stave

The temperature of copper stave rises rapidly when the cooling pipes are broken and damaged pipes make the stave damaged quickly. The measure which is always adopted is applying cooling column to recover cooling capacity of stave. The mode of cooling column is point cooling. The cooling area is small and it’s difficult to form the slag skull. However this is easy for cooling plate to form smooth operating profile instead of the broken stave and it’s benefit for stability of blast furnace. The model of cooling plates by the chessboard type is established and the centre temperature of shell furnace, stave hot face and cold face are analyzed from different distances, sizes and water velocities of cooling plate. It turns out that when gas temperature is 1500℃,cooling centre temperature increases about 230℃ while the interval is changed from 200mm to 600mm and cooling centre temperature reduces about 50℃ when water velocity increases 1m/s to 3m/s.The cooling plate is compared with cooling column and it is found that the cooling capacity of plate is better.
