The low-carbon ironmaking technology on co-treatment of non-coking coal and iron-ore fines was proposed through investigating the characteristics of carbonization of non-coking coal and iron ore. The results showed that the percent metallization of the iron ore fines was up to 85% at 800℃ of carbonization temperature, and 60% of metallic iron was already reduced by hydrogen. The amount of CO2 release in this low-carbon ironmaking technology has been reduced by 0.67 ton per ton metallic iron, It indicated that the new process was with good benefits of economy and environment.
