The application experiments were done to research the strand quality for high carbon steel 65Mn in EMS (electromagnetic stirring). The results showed that the effect for EMS rolls in side-side installation way is better than that in face-face installation way. The effect for EMS was increased with the increasing of current, and the continuous stirring was better than alternative stirring. The strand inner quality is improved obviously by using EMS. The equiaxed zone ratio for 65Mn could be increased 32%, and the center segregation grade was decreased to C1.0 from B0.5.
