Abstract:The effects of vertical and “V” type baffles as well as turbulence inhibitor with baffle on melt flow behavior were investigated in a threestrand T type tundish with physical modeling. The results show that the vertical baffle placed in tundish without any control device improves the melt flow for inclusion removal, but it loses the advantage compared with the reasonable designed baffle of “V” type. “V” type baffle and dam can improve the melt flow, while the addition of turbulence inhibitor based on it seems to be no any improvement for the flow. In present study, an optimal proposal for flow control devices in tundish is presented through an optimizing study by water modeling.
