Abstract:Deformation in railway wheel for heat treatment was analyzed with finite element method, in which the coupling of temperature, phase transformation and stress was considered. Deformation is take place mainly in quenching and the plastic strain concentrate on the arc segments in two ends of the plate. The deformation of plate results in the sinking of hub of the wheel. The sinkage reaches to maximum when quenching finish, and reduces in the following tempering and cooling process. The ultimate sinkage is 13 mm when heat treatments finish for HDSA840 railway wheel.
