Abstract：The achievements of the hot-rolled wide strip steel in the past decade in China were reviewed in terms of production scale, product quality, equipment level and the application of new technologies and models. Meanwhile, the problems existing in the iron and steel industry in terms of overcapacity, product quality issue, intelligent manufacturing limitation and green development short were analyzed. Therefore, it is suggested that the supply-side structural reform and the optimization of production capacity layout should be further promoted in order to achieve the high-quality development. Moreover, the methods to enhance product competitiveness, such as improving abilities of the market research judgment and research and development innovation, promoting the intelligent manufacturing, service-oriented manufacturing and life cycle assessment, are also conducive to promoting the high-quality development.
