Abstract：The transformation and upgrading of steel industry supported by development of intelligent manufacturing was illustrated against the philosophy of establishing the serviceoriented steel enterprises by the promotion of platform economy and the acceleration of the integration of industrialization and informatization. First，the new stage of Chinese economy characterized by the low speed and transformation was described in macroscopic view. Then，the ten trends of the steel industry in the current development stage were discussed，and under an era of reduction，the coordinated development of nine aspects was promoted and the value chain was rebuilt. Particularly，how to succeed in the transformation and upgrading of the steel industry by the intelligent manufacturing was mainly discussed. And the existing problems，the development ideas and the main direction of the steel intelligent manufacturing were analyzed. Finally，the execution measures adopted in the different stages of the intelligent development in the steel industry were proposed.
