Abstract:In order to smelt high grade non-oriented silicon steel with qualified chemical composition, the process test was carried out by using vacuum induction furnace, which breaking the convention of slag-free steelmaking in vacuum induction furnace, and adopting the method of adding appropriate amount of CaO slag and deoxidizer for desulfurization. The results showed that the rapid desulfurization could be achieved with a desulfurization rate of over 80% and a minimum sulfur mass fraction of 0.000 6% in the steel. Fully utilizing the functions of carbon to deoxidize and degas under vacuum, the two-step addition of aluminum could improve the desulfurization rate and the yield of silicon, manganese and other elements, while stabilizing the control of the narrow range of aluminum mass fraction to meet the quality requirements of high grade non-oriented silicon steel.
