Calculation and analysis on temperature drop during pre-desulfurization of hot metal/semi-steel containing vanadium and titanium

Abstract:In order to analyze the influence factors of the temperature drop during the pre-desulfurization of hot metal/semi-steel containing vanadium and titanium, a temperature prediction model of the pre-desulfurization was established based on the theories of material balance and heat balance. The temperature of hot metal/semi-steel after desulfurization was well controlled by adjusting the desulfurizer injection amount, flow rate of carrier gas and injection time, according to the temperature before pre-desulfurization. The industrial test showed that the qualified rate of the temperature prediction model reached 85% when the accuracy was ±5 ℃. Based on this model, the influence of desulfurizer, carrier gas, furnace lining, slag and other factors on the temperature drop was discussed. It was found that magnesium content of desulfurizer was the main reason that the temperature drop of hot metal pre-desulfurization was larger than that of semi-steel. And the effective methods to reduce the temperature drop of hot metal pre-desulfurization process containing vanadium and titanium were given.
