Abstract:Thermo-mechanical controlled processing (TMCP) is an important and effective rolling technology for development of steel product and improvement of mechanical properties, which consists of controlled hot rolling and controlled cooling. We elucidate here the advanced technology mechanism and development of the ultra-fast cooling (UFC) for plate and strip production, and emphasis on the technique characterization of the UFC equipment through domestic independent research and development. The thermo-mechanical controlled processing combined with ultrafast cooling is referred as New Generation (NG)-TMCP. The superior mechanical properties can be obtained by "temperature-deformation" coupling control technology during the rolling and cooling processing, which is a consequence of grain refinement strengthening, precipitation strengthening and phase transformation strengthening. The resultant theory and technology can achieve resource conservation, energy saving and emission reduction for green steel products in the manufacturing process.
