Abstract:Due to the characteristics and the instability of production process, it is common that the forgings of non-quenched and tempered steel have bad strength and plasticity; these can be effectively changed by normalizing, which will change the strength and plasticity matching of non-quenched-tempered steel and its morphology, and expand its scope of application. It has been found that after normalizing between 850℃ to 1150℃, the increase in normalizing temperature leads to the increase of the strength and decrease of the ductility and impact toughness, and the microstructure grain size increases also. When the normalizing temperature was above 1050℃, steel microstructure coarsened obviously. Optimal normalizing temperature is 950℃ when the microstructure was refined and the strength and plasticity were both well.
