Abstract:The comparative study on the hollow steel 95CrMo from domestic and abroad was undertaken. The result shows that the sulphur content from domestic hollow steel was low. Although the deoxidizing element contents of aluminum and calcium from domestic hollow steel were higher, the remaining total oxygen was not lower, and the ratio of wAls/wAlt was significantly lower than that from abroad. The content of titanium and residual elements from the scrap were higher from domestic hollow steel. Quantities and sizes of inclusions from domestic hollow steel were large and there were more spherical inclusions which were encapsulated with CaS. While in foreign samples, more Al2O3 inclusions were detected which were small, and there were few titanium inclusions. The difference in microstructures and hardness for the samples from home and abroad was not significant. It can be inferred that the number, size and type of inclusions may be the main factors in effecting the hollow steel fatigue life.
