Abstract:To develop a new technology for smelting Niobite and put into effect comprehensive utilization the Fe-Nb-RE special resource from Baiyunebo of Baotou. The article has done the fundamental theory research for the new technology of smelting Niobite. By thermodynamic analysis, the temperature (1489℃) of carbon directly reduce NbO than the temperature (705℃) of carbon directly reduce FeO is much higher at standard state, So directly reduce niobite tailing by tank reduction methods, first iron reduced, and separate iron with niobium oxides to enrich niobium into slag, finally reduce niobium oxides. The based on front, The optimal reduction technology and operation parameters are obtained by comparing the results of reducing iron preparation concentrate and niobite tailing with different tank reduction methods. In summary, by analysis and comparation on three different charging methods that the optimal technology parameters for niobite tailing direct reduction are: the charging method is pancake and reducing time is 4 hours at 950℃.
