Abstract:The scale thickness distribution on SPHC strip rolled by CSP process is investigated and compared with that by traditional hot rolling mill. The following results are obtained: the scale thickness increases from width center to edge of strip, however the increasing tendency from center to quarter is stronger than that from quarter to edge; the scale on hot coiled strip is thicker than on cooled coil; the scale on bottom side of strip is thicker than on upper side; the relation of scale thickness x with strip thickness h is expressed as: x = 3.95695+2.09607 h and x= 8.152 + 3.132 h for coil produced by CSP and traditional hot rolling mill respectively; the thickness of scale on CSP rolled coil is thinner and less sensitive to strip thickness . Thus the pickling process should be worked out based on the characteristics of scale on strip bottom side.
