Abstract:In order to investigate the corrosion behavior of AlFeCoNiMo0.2 in acidic solutions of 3.5%NaCl at different pH, the self-designed AlFeCoNiMo0.2 high-entropy alloy with single-phase BCC structure was investigated, whose microstructure was simple polycrystalline structure composed of equiaxed crystals with relatively uniform grain size and average grain size of 50 μm. The corrosion behavior of the alloy in acidic solutions of 3.5%NaCl at different pH was investigated using dynamic potential polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, SEM and XPS test methods. The results show that there is no significant passivation of the alloy in acidic solutions of 3.5%NaCl at different pH, and the alloy having the lowest corrosion current density and the best corrosion resistance at pH=6. Due to the segregation of Al and Mo elements in the alloy, complexation reactions with Cl- occur, resulting in pitting on both surfaces of the alloy after polarization. The passive film consists mainly of oxides of Al, Fe, Co and Mo as well as Ni oxides and hydroxides.
