Alkaline pellet new ore blending mode based on concept of flux distribution homogenization

Abstract:Developing alkaline pellets production and keeping high proportion pellet smelting in blast furnace are important ways for the green and low-carbon development of pre iron process. The consolidation process of alkaline pellets was relatively complex, so based on the analysis of consolidation process for alkaline pellets, theoretical calculation of the liquid phase for alkaline pellets, and the study of reaction ability between magnetic powder and alkaline flux, the concept of homogenization for alkaline flux distribution was proposed, and the three logical levels and micro reflections of its existence were explained. Analysis shows that only by homogenizing alkaline flux can alkaline pellets obtain better consolidation quality and metallurgical properties. The production practice of a new ore blending mode of Shougang Jingtang pellets based on the concept of homogenization for alkaline flux distribution shows that after homogenizing flux distribution, the consolidation quality of pellets remains at a high level, and the compressive strength of finished pellets exceeds 3 200 N, the reduction swelling index decreases from 16.5% to about 15.2%, the reduction index increases from 86.72% to 88.90%, and the IRD+3.15 decreases slightly, then the homogenization effect of flux distribution is obvious.
