Abstract:The dimensional accuracy of rod and wire rolling is very important, but it is difficult to improve because there are too many passes in rolling process and the deformation in the groove is too complex. A universal model for predicting rolled pieces dimension in all passes in the continuous rolling process of rod and wire was established, which provided an efficient method for calculating and predicting the rolling deformation. The dimensions of rolled pieces in all passes of Ø9 mm Q235 and 65Mn wires and Ø40 mm 40Cr and 20CrMnTi rods were predicted, respectively. The rolling parameters were predicted according to the reduction of all passes recommended by this model. The relative error of dimensions for final predicted finished product is -1.56%-0.78%, and the absolute error is -0.14-0.07 mm. The prediction accuracy meets the highest accuracy requirements of the actual production in iron and steel enterprises. This model is universal in calculating various steel grades rolled by different types of production lines, and has high calculation timeliness. It can be used as basic model for the digital transformation of rod and wire rolling process.
