Abstract:The continuous deformation process of square tube formed from round pipe was established using the metal deformation coordination relation based on straight seam welding of round pipe. A series of continuous forming passes were developed and a mathematical model of square tube formed from round pipe was established. The finite element method was used to simulate the deformation relationship of each pass, which could optimize and determine the pass and forming process parameters, and analyze the stress-strain of strip edge for instability. The continuous production line of square tube was developed. Trial production of 78 mm×78 mm×3.0 mm square tube was carried out and satisfactory results were obtained. The theoretical and experimental results were in good agreement, which laid a foundation for production practice.
