In order to find out the gap between sulfur steels at home and abroad in the control of sulfides, the characteristics and distribution of sulphides in domestic and foreign resulfurized steels were observed and analyzed by means of scanning electron microscopy. The results shows that the deformation degree of sulphides in foreign resulfurized steels is small and the distribution is uniform, while the deformation degree of sulphides in domestic resulfurized steels is large, and there is aggregation phenomenon. The main sulfide types are single MnS and composite sulfide, which can be mainly divided into two types of peripheral high CaS content (Ca,Mn)S and low CaS content (Ca,Mn)S, and the core oxides are CaO-MgO-Al2O3. Compared with domestic steel, the number of single MnS in foreign resulfurized steels is less, the aspect ratio is lower, the number of composite (Ca,Mn)S with low CaS content is more, and the CaO/Al2O3 mass ratio in the core is lower. Increasing the proportion of (Ca,Mn)S with low CaS content in steel will help to reduce the quantity and size of single MnS. The key to achieve this goal is to control the oxide core.
