Abstract:In the current study, the X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) was used to detect the quality of continuous casing products in industrial production, including large inclusions and bubbles within the subsurface of a continuous casting slab of IF steel, corner cracks of a micro-alloy steel continuous casting slab and central porosity of the continuous casting bloom a heavy rail steel, all of which were characterized in their real three-dimensional structures. The surface quality and the inner quality of continuous casing products could be quantitatively evaluated. For example, for the detected rail steel bloom, the central porosity was 0.33% in volume and the average compactness was 96.6%.
