Abstract:Effect of TiO2 on the formation of blast furnace slag was clarified in order to study the formation process of the primary slag containing titanium in blast furnace, the interaction, migration and recombination of various phase components of Tibearing primary slag in blast furnace. FactSage thermodynamics software and rotating cylinder viscometer were applied to study the effect of TiO2 mass fraction on melting temperature, phase transition and viscosity of the primary slag in blast furnace. The results showed that with the increase of TiO2 mass fraction in primary slag (from 4% to 16%), the melting temperature increased from 1 360 to 1 410 ℃, increased by 50 ℃. The mass fraction of TiO2 in the Tibearing primary slag in blast furnace had a great influence on the transformation and proportion of all kinds of phase compositions in the primary slag. The temperature range of the solidliquid phase coexistence of the primary slag became larger with the increase of TiO2 mass fraction, which would widen the soft zone of blast furnace. The effect of TiO2 mass fraction on the primary slag viscosity was complex. When TiO2 mass fraction was in the range of 4%8%, the viscositytemperature curve presented as "alkaline slag". When TiO2 mass fraction was 16%, the viscositytemperature curve of the primary slag appeared as "acidic slag".
