Abstract:Slag foaming is a common phenomenon in the metallurgy process. Based on the study of the predecessors research of slag foaming by literature investigation,the influences of the physical characteristics(such as viscosity and surface tension of slag)and chemical composition(such as mass fraction of CaO,SiO2,FeO,MgO and P2O5 etc.)on the slag foaming index were summarized. And the effects of the controlling parameters during the smelting process such as the temperature of the smelting bath and decarburization rate on the slag foaming height in the bath were discussed combined with the practical situation of converter. According to the phenomenon of the slag foaming at low temperature during the initial stage of converter smelting,the corresponding control measures were proposed on the basis of the investigation. And for slag foaming,some personal opinions on the research emphasis in the future were put forward.
