Abstract:In view of the problems of crystal precipitation during the process of the slag wool production,mineral composition and microstructure of the modified slag were analyzed by FactSage thermodynamic software,X-ray diffraction(XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscope(SEM). The viscosity curves of modified slag during cooling process were studied by synthetic test instrument for the physical characteristics. The results indicated that modified slag separate out crystals at 1 240 ℃ and the main crystal phase are gehlenite (Ca2Al2SiO7) and magnesium (Ca2MgSi2O7). In addition,the suitable temperature range for molten modified slag is 1 300~1 413 ℃.
