Abstract:The 20Mn23AlV steel is a type of high manganese and low magnetism steel with high Al content, which causes the violent slag- steel reaction during the continuous casting (CC) process and the formation of the serious surface crack of 20Mn23AlV slab, and influences the regular continuous casting production. In order to improve the surface quality of slab and keep the smooth continuous casting production of 20Mn23AlV steel, the continuous casting process technology and mold fluxes for 20Mn23AlV steel were studied and analyzed. By the slag- steel reaction experiment in the induction heating furnace, combined with the chemical analysis and the scanning electron microscope(SEM), the low responsiveness mold fluxes for 20Mn23AlV steel were developed. The industry experiments of the low responsiveness continuous casting mold fluxes showed that the slab surface crack was eliminated, and the slab grinding rate was reduced from 8% to 1%.
