Since the ladle capping equipment of Steelmaking Department of Shougang Jingtang was put into operation in 2015, mechanical and hydraulic faults have occurred from time to time, seriously restricting production. In order to realize the fast and smooth operation of ladle capping equipment, combined with the unique layout structure of ladle capping equipment, aiming at the problems existing in the operation of the equipment, the factors affecting the ladle capping equipment was quantitatively analyzed by using fault tree method, and the minimum cutset importance of each fault was calculated. It was obtained that the fault which had a greater impact on the ladle capping equipment was the deformation of the guide wheel bracket, bolting of the gear connection and production splashing. The actual case proved that the fault tree method had achieved good results in the maintenance of ladle capping equipment compared with the simple point inspection maintenance system in the past. It provided more scientific maintenance guidance for the daily maintenance of ladle capping equipment.
