In order to find out the shortcomings in the control of inclusions of domestic electroslag remelting H13 steel, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and inclusion analysis system (INCA Steel) were employed to compare the inclusions in domestic and imported H13 steel, and the gaps in harmful element and control of inclusions were analyzed specifically. The results showed the mass fractions of S and TO in domestic H13 steel were more than 0.001 2%0.002 0% and 0.000 6%0.000 8%, respectively, compared to imported H13 steel. The inclusions of the four kinds of H13 steel were Al2O3, MgO·Al2O3, CaO·Al2O3 and CaO·MgO·Al2O3. Compared with the imported H13 steel, the domestic H13 steel had more inclusions with the size larger than 5 μm and fewer inclusions with the size smaller than 2 μm, and the range of inclusion size was much bigger. For the imported H13 steel, the inclusion composition varied within a limited range, the inclusion size was more even, and the high proportion of inclusions close to sphere was higher.
