Abstract:In order to meet the needs of the high-end forgings in the field such as the energy (power plants, nuclear power), the bearing, mould, and the aerospace in China, enhance the market competitiveness of the domestic high-end forgings, and achieve the further breakthroughs in the high purity, high quality ingot manufacturing field in CITIC Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., a new 80 t ESR furnace with the low-frequency, the single electrode, the gas protection, the coaxial high current loop, and the constant rate control system was developed based on many years of the study, investigations and expounding of the advanced ESR equipment at home and abroad.This ESR furnace applied many innovative techniques, such as the low-frequency power supply, the single-electrode, the all coaxial, the inert gas protection under the slight positive pressure, the high-precision weighing, the smart computerized control system, the coaxial arrangements of the high current loop, the double furnace heads, and the balance of power network, and can achieve the computer automatic control in the remelting process. Thus, it was characterized by the unique design, the high technical contents, the energy saving,the safety and reliability, and so on. The quality detection and analysis of the ESR ingot showed that the segregation was not obvious, chemical composition was high purity, and the quality reached a higher level.
