Abstract:Using steel slag to substitute for the sintering flux was an important way to recycle steel slag, because there were many recyclable elements such as Ca,Fe and Mg in steel slag. In order to improve the ratio of steel slag in sintering raw material and recycle the useful elements, the investigation on the sintering experiment which used the steel slag from a domestic steel plant to substitute for the quicklime was conducted by the Xray diffractometer, mineralographic microscope, compact sintering test equipment and sintering pot. The results showed that steel slag was mainly composed of RO,dicalcium silicate and tricalcium silicate. Steel slag as sintering flux could accelerate the formation of liquid phase and improve the fluidity of liquid phase. The mean size and product yield of sinter were increased and the solid fuel consumption was decreased when low quality quicklime was replaced by steel slag and high quality quicklime.
