Research of the roll contour optimization on LYsteel CSP hot rolling skin pass mill

Product of 1800CSP hot rolling skin pass mill in LySteel has shape defects frequently; The amount of shape unqualified exceeds 5%. In order to improve strip shape and reduce the impact of “W”-like heterogeneous roll wear to strip flatness, work roll and backup roll profiles are designed via the optimization method, which aim at making the transverse distribution of pressure between rolls and transverse distribution of front tension homogeneous. The theoretical calculation and field application shows transverse distribution of pressure between rolls become more homogeneous. With the application of optimized profiles, “W”-like wear of work roll is decreased, then total weight of rolled strip is increased and strip shape is improved.
