Study on the control tactics of wide thick plate alloy medium carbon steel slab’s halfway cracks

Methods of acid etch test for macro-structures was adopted to get the halfway cracks’ location and regularity. By improving precision of conticaster’s roll gap, optimizing the intensity of second coolinig water, adjusting the zone of Dynamic Soft Reduction and so on, the incidence rate of halfway cracks were reduced, center segregation and center porosity were improved, the quality of the slab was raised to a much higher level.
